Mermaid Dragons once guarded the peaceful underwater empire of Atlantis against enemies and acted as chauffeurs for visiting emissaries from the land. While riding a Mermaid Dragon, even the most water-adverse creatures can breathe normally beneath the sea. When Atlantis fell, Mermaid Dragons, along with their close friend the Atlantis Dragons, were left without purpose and without a home. While the history of Atlantis Dragons remains a mystery, Mermaid Dragons are known to have settled near trade routes, where they teased sailors and fought pirates. Reports of strange sea creatures drawing sailors into perilous waters with enchanting song are almost certainly attributable to Mermaid Dragons, though they would never do such a thing intentionally. It's well known to Caretakers that a snoring Mermaid Dragon sounds deceptively like a singing woman. Following the fall of Atlantis and the disintegration of so many ancient trade routes, Mermaid Dragons briefly struggled to find their place in the new world. Thankfully the event of large-scale whale hunting provided them with a cause. Epic Form Mermaid Dragons love whales and will protect them at any cost.
